Participants compete under their own responsibility and must be physically capable of completing the distance for which they have registered.

Age requirement to confirm: the legacy rules state that competitors must be at least 18 years old on race day, while the current 2027 Race Information states that athletes born in 2009 or earlier are admitted. The organiser should confirm the definitive age rule before publication.

Age categories and classifications will be established according to the event regulations and the applicable Mexican athletics requirements.

04
Registration

Entry, payment and acceptance

Each participant must complete an official registration. Submission of the registration and payment of the applicable fee constitute acceptance of these rules.

Entries are personal, final and non-transferable. Registration fees are non-refundable and an entry may not be transferred to another person, event, city or year.

Anyone giving a bib to another person does so in breach of these rules. The registered participant may be held responsible for consequences arising from unauthorised use of that bib.

05
Health

Fitness to participate

By entering the event, each participant confirms that, to the best of their knowledge, they are medically fit to participate and are not aware of any condition that would make participation unsafe.

Participants are responsible for obtaining appropriate medical advice before the event where necessary and for ensuring that any medication they use complies with applicable anti-doping rules.

Health recommendation: Running a Half Marathon requires appropriate physical preparation. Participants are strongly encouraged to assess their fitness before the event and, in case of any doubt about their health or ability to complete the chosen distance safely, to seek medical advice before taking part.
06

07
Race day

Bib, timing chip and course conduct

The official bib must be worn visibly on the front of the participant’s torso throughout the race. It must not be folded, concealed or altered.

Participants must use the timing chip issued for their registration and follow the complete official course. A participant who runs without the required bib or timing device, uses another runner’s bib or chip, or fails to complete the official course may be disqualified.

Participants are strongly encouraged to write emergency contact information and relevant medical information on the reverse of their bib where space is provided.

08
Timing

Electronic timing and checkpoints

Electronic timing will be used. Timing and control points may be positioned at the start, along the course and at the finish.

Official results will be based on the event timing system and compliance with all course checkpoints.

09
Time limit

Reopening the course

The current 2027 Race Information states that the Half Marathon must be completed within 3 hours. Participants must maintain a pace compatible with the official course closure.

Once the end-of-race vehicle or official closure procedure has passed a participant, normal road regulations apply and the participant must follow the instructions of police, course officials and event staff.

10
Safety

Road, medical and official instructions

Road safety is coordinated with the competent local authorities. Medical assistance is provided on the course and at the finish.

Medical personnel and event officials may stop or withdraw a participant from the race when they consider continuation unsafe. Participants must follow all reasonable instructions given by police, medical personnel and race officials.

Bicycles, skates and unauthorised wheeled or motorised vehicles are prohibited on the race course. Official event vehicles and authorised wheelchair categories are exempt where applicable.

11
Personal property

Loss, theft and damage

Participants remain responsible for personal property brought to the event. To the extent permitted by law, the organiser accepts no responsibility for loss, theft, breakage or other damage to personal belongings.

Participants are responsible for arranging any insurance they consider necessary to cover such risks.

12
Fair competition

Anti-doping

Participants must comply with the anti-doping rules applicable to the event and must not knowingly use prohibited substances or prohibited methods for the purpose of enhancing performance.

Anyone taking medication should seek appropriate medical advice where there is any doubt regarding its status under anti-doping regulations.

13
Responsibility

Participation at the runner’s own risk

Participation in a road race involves inherent risks. Each participant accepts responsibility for taking reasonable measures to protect their own health and safety.

Participants are responsible for appropriate travel, health and medical insurance and for expenses arising from medical treatment not otherwise covered.

14
Photography & media

Name and likeness

By participating in the event, participants acknowledge that photographs, video and other recordings may be made during the event and may include their image.

Subject to applicable law, the organiser and its authorised partners may use event imagery and recordings for reporting, promotion and communication relating to the Cancún Half Marathon and associated events.

15
Participant benefits

Race materials and finisher recognition

Registration benefits are described on the official registration page and may include a technical T-shirt, electronic timing, hydration and medical services, participant certificate, photographs and finisher medal.

A finisher medal is reserved for participants who complete the event in accordance with the race conditions and required timing and identification procedures.

16
Changes

Course, schedule and event changes

The organiser may modify the course, timetable, start or finish arrangements where required by public authorities, safety considerations, weather, force majeure or circumstances beyond the organiser’s reasonable control.

Where the event must be postponed or its date changed, the applicable conditions communicated by the organiser will govern participant entries.

The legacy rules state categorically that no refund is due if the event date changes. Because consumer-law implications can depend on the circumstances, that clause should be reviewed by the organiser before final publication rather than simply copied.
17
Security

Event-site checks

Participants may be required to comply with reasonable identity, accreditation, security or bag checks when entering or leaving event-controlled areas.

18
Officials

Compliance with event decisions

Participants must comply with applicable road-race regulations and with reasonable instructions and decisions issued by the organiser, race officials, medical personnel, police and competent sporting authorities.

19
Acceptance

Registration confirms agreement

The organiser reserves the right to reject an entry or exclude a participant where the event rules are not respected or where participation would create a safety, security or integrity concern.

By registering for the event, the participant confirms that they have read and accepted the event rules and conditions of entry.

20
Final provisions

Official information

The latest information published by the organiser regarding race schedules, routes, bib collection, safety procedures and participation conditions forms part of these event rules.

If operational information changes before race day, participants must follow the most recent official communication issued by the organiser.
